Battaglin sl 201

SL is Columbus Strada Leggera tubing. I assume the 201 is just a designation specifically for the tubes Battaglin got from them. Main traingle should be butted 0.6/0.9.

The easiest way to narrow down the year will be the groupset. I'm not good at road stuff, but if that's 2nd generation New Success then I think that suggests 1989-1992.

I can't say if it's a rare bike or not. I'm not an expert on road bikes. I live near the Pinarello and Battaglin factories and met Mr. Battaglin in person at his shop. I can only tell you that in the 1990s, both Pinarello and Battaglin made many bicycles in limited numbers, prototypes/production bikes in the same time. I've seen mountain bikes with frames I've never seen before, original branded Pinarello and Battaglin, that weren't listed in the official catalogs.

25crmo4 is the equivalent of Dedacciai Tre Tubi even though the Deda DR Zero and DR Zero Uno use 25crmo4 as their base material but with improvement. Oria was an important tube manufacturer in the 80's-90's but later disappeared. The tubing might be equivalent to the Zona Columbus tubing. Also that depends how light is the bike if under 9,5kilos that means you have a high end lightweight steel tubing. Sachs New Success was made during a short period it was the quivalent of Campy Athena.
