Bash guard ID???

When I have time, I will look for mine. I remember that I had to cut away part of it in order to fit on my Cook Bros cranks. It was so long ago, I don't remember the name of the manufacturer. It might be the same, probably is, mine is black.

The cut outs are just to fit more easily to different crank sets.

The Crystal Design chain ring guard came in different variants, also for compact and standard BCD.
This is from 1997:

And here is an advert, already from 1992, showing also one with out any cut outs at all:

Interesting. I guess it is a crystal designs one.
I'm located not to far from Longmont where their office was.

Thanks for the help. I've never even heard of Crystal Designs before. Y'all are awesome!

Now to find a clean LX/XT 110bcd crankset to use it with...

Better watch out for their great brakes.

They had nice cantilevers and pretty iconic brake levers too

This is a blue set I do own

I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them now.

I just did a search for Crystal Designs and apparently the owner passed away in 2009.
I was going to get in touch if he lived in the area still and see if he had anything collecting dust somewhere. I've had good luck cold calling/emailing old out of business places and chatting about the old days or how/why they made their products. I've done it with old bands, bike companies, and a few other hobbies I have. You'd be surprised how many people are willing to chat about the olden day's if you are polite and show interest.
