So I decided to roll the dice and build the wheel myself, borrowed a buddyās truing stand. I found a youtube video I liked and really took my time. I took stephanās advice and made sure the spokes were attached to the flanges the same as a previous build.
Overall Iām very pleased with the outcome. Iāve been out for a ride around the block a few times, hopped off a curb, took a half dozen bunny hops and forced a high torque pedal going up a hill in a high gear. Checked the wheel afterward and it remained true, no odd noises came from the wheel so I think Iām good to go

I plan to enter my BOTE in the American BOTM this month, figured this is a good time to share the current build.
Couple changes are swapping the cranks from Cooks to RF, Cooks needed to go to the Merlin and I actually think the Turbines suit the build quite well, Ringle skewers to go with the hubs, also made a custom front brake hanger noodle using a V brake noodle, think it looks much better

Such a cool looking bike and great choice to go the polished route.
There was a Cannondale of this generation on ebay recently, low starting price and no bids. Crazy how much bike these are for the money. I remember really wanting one back in the day in the black and red combo.

A few updates from recent months.
I never had a desire to make use of Cannondaleās Force 40 brake system. Kinda cool idea Cannondale had I guess but Iāve never felt it was an improvement of the standard setup, personal preference. After sourcing the Pepperoni fork, stripping and polishing it I had contemplated removing the Force 40 ānubā off the fork crown area. I figured, why not just leave it?
Recently I reconsidered this decision and off she came, looks much better IMHO, much cleaner.
The rear Ringle hub is the thread-on freewheel type. I was using a fairly heavy Shimano Sante 7 speed freewheel of excellent quality. At our recent swap I came across a cool alloy Italian Marchisio 7 speed freewheel and not expensive. It needed lotās of love to get it to even be functional, it was well worth the effort though, super cool unit and 150g lighter.
I had the good fortune to acquire a Ringle seatpost skewer, an early one. Not ready to install with the Cannondale frame without seat tube pinching ears, I needed a different seat tube collar. I managed to source something I though appropriate and with some rattle can paint it's a pretty good match to the headset colour.
Other part swaps: Black Syncros Chainrings and M900 mechs
Current weight is 20lbs 14oz, lightest in my stable
