What it says in the header. Not fussd about brand but it's to go with a yellow frame so yellow, or purple for contrast. I'd consider a threaded steerer or unthreaded, as I have to buy a headset so will get whatever the forks demand. It's just for a commuter for my wife so just looking for...

I'll have to check the model when I get home. Long cage though. The spring could be weak, perhaps: the screw has zero effect.

My wife has a commuter hack which has a 7-speed set up with a 12-32 cassette. Recently she needed a new rear mech so I put on a spare 9-speed Deore one. It works, sort of, but on the largest sprocket, the top jockey wheel is so close to the sprocket that the teeth of the two actually touch...

I think I might stick some comedy green tyres on it. It's not green enough.

This is a 1995 Saracen Backtrax frame (NOS from Bankrupt Surplus), built up with various odds and sods, which does me on my 8 mile round trip, which has a 100m ascent going home. That's Sheffield for you.

I ought to have added: the set-up is 7-speed, so 9-speed wouldn't work. Would swapping the freewheel and cassette over work or would a 9 speed wheel be too dished and sit off-centre?

I commute daily on an early 90s Saracen Backtrax. The rear rim is wearing through so I just want a cheap but decent replacement 7-speed wheel. Not looking for anything special rim or hubwise. My current hub is stx-rc and rim is a non-name but probably mavic. Stainless spokes necessary though as...
