    Newbie BB Question

Afternoon everyone, I have a quick question about bottom brackets. Took mine out today as going to replace it. It's marked 68mm so I know this is the size of the BB shell. Spindle is marked 110mm, is there any reason or benefit to change this for a longer spindle or do I just keep everything...

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

I believe it's been polished before. I'll do one tube first with the Nitromors then polish to see how it comes out. Hopefully that'll do the job, if not then brillo pads and elbow grease.

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

It's not as complicated as I thought then, and I already have both the autosol and meguairs NXT so just need the brillo pads! I'll need to pick up some tools tomorrow as I can't find any of my old bike tools from years back when I previously into bikes. Just out of interest, I also have an...

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

Hi Kaiser, I believe it was originally a polished finish. It looks like there has been a lacquer type finish on it which has started to deteriorate. Pics are here : - http://picasaweb.google.com/robertjmker ... directlink

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

Through my day job I've got good relationships with local bodyshops so was thinking I might get it lacquered or is this a no-no?

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

Is it as simple as using a metal polish? I'd read somewhere on a car forum that I had to use coarse to fine grades of wet and dry to achieve a really good finish. I can give it a go, particularly if it saves me some money that I can spend on other goodies for the bike!

Someone to polish my frame - Glasgow area

Mikee, I "think" it's a Malt, from Merlin Cycles in the UK, very early bike. It was at one point mirror finish by the looks of it but a bit sorry looking now.

Sorry it's not Ti, it's a UK Merlin and looks aluminium (I hope) I'd read up on doing it myself but I'll end up ruining it  Will do my best to get along to the Clan Gathering!

    Newbie - Girvin Flexstem Question

Hi everyone, New member here, currently doing a rebuild restoration of an old bike. I've acquired a good condition Girvin Flexstem (and I know they're not great but I've always wanted one!), but was wondering if anyone had taken one apart before? I want to get it powder-coated and would...
