Re: Re:
Not sure why you would say the 853 in smaller sizes were more like touring bikes. Can you explain?
I have an 853 bike size 55 and it is certainly not a touring bike.
The 2 bikes I have that I am pretty sure were build by Mr. Quick are a Holdsworth and an actual T.J. Quick built in 1985 when he had his own shop. Serials look like this.

I just found a Battle Tomahawk at a local co-op. It is missing it's original fork, but a rock-shox mag 21 should not be to hard to source. The welds are a little "iffy" but they seem solid. I am a classic road bike guy but this thing is an absolute blast to ride.

I just finished a rattle can job on this Canadian Le Croco. Paint still needs to be buffed out in spots but I am happy with it. I use an old wardrobe cabinet with 2 heat lamps which heat the cab to 140 degrees F. So 2 weeks after final clear coat it's ready to go.

Is there any potential to damage the Decals while polishing out the clear coat? Would polishing out the clear before applying Decals be a better option? This is where I usually run into problems...
Regarding decals, I was wondering what the correct process is. Do you apply decals after the last colour coat and clear coat over all. Or clear coat everything and then apply decals?
A couple of things I might add. Always wear vinyl or latex gloves fingerprints will leave oil and can affect the finish.
If you have an old cabinet, wood is fine with enough room in it to hang a frame use it as a drying room. Add a couple of 150 watt old school light bulbs and temps will reach...
You should post this on Bikeforums. There are members there that actually worked for Trek.
But I don't think you will find that Trek used Frames made by Holdsworth.
