i have drops on my commuter and i only ever use them when going downhill. the rest of the time i use the hoods. No other reason than I prefer it, don't think there's anything wrong with that!
I agree it is usually the owners who need the kick, not the dogs.

I'm sure I read somewhere that bottom brackets on modern bikes are further from the ground than on older bikes - wouldn't this have an effect on the suitable frame size?
Old frame, new kit is exactly what i am looking to do, hopefully the finished product will look as good as yours does....with a stem change :wink:
Now, just need to find the right project frame/bike....
