I tihnk specialised made quite a few models. If you look at pictures of early 90's stumpies, and find the steel one that came in a nice dark green colour that came with grey tyres as stock - I remember seeing a whole row of them in a US shop

They were indeed m-739, so my search for a grub screaw was indeed fruitless. Anyway thanks for the above help - i know have a working rear mech and a correctly id'ed shifter.

I guess you'd have to google for them. They were formed in 1992, but in 2002 became the house brand of some largely Oslo based sports shops named Anton sport, and they've been rebranding mass produced frames of varying merit since then. The other big rebranded mark is Bros (unfortunate)...

Gekko is a brand that distributes bikes in Norway. Nothing much to say on them - they are just labelled Gekko

When did Salsa put in an appearance? 1990 seems a rather late date to me - fancy skewers seemed to pop up as long ago as I can remember, which is back to 1988.

What budget range? There are some Fat Chance frames that came from the factory with tabs, but they are an example of the 'luxury' end of the market.

LGF - you seem to have more than a passing knowledge of Cambridge shops from times past. Which one sold these - the blue colour was/is just beautiful.
