Been wondering about this for some time. Is there a name for this style of fork crown like the Columbus Matrix one below? It's neither traditionally lugged, nor classic unicrown. IMO it's the nicest match for non-lugged steel frames. Any known moniker for this crown? Thanks. Been

Re: Ouch the crank arms slide onto the JIS taper 2/3rds of the way only. Looks like i might have to slightly mill the taper.

Re: @hamster yup, square taper for sure, anyway seems to be what all the vintage cranks are using, and lends itself nicely to chainline tweaks when using a 2x crankset in 1x mode. This brings me to another question. Is it possible to use an "inner" chainring in the outer position for a 1x...

Been looking around a bit and there seem to be a few Peugeot models with mid reach caliper configuration. But hard to get the info from random classifieds sellers. One is from a Galibier, the other from a PH11 model. Would you reckon those are medium reach (47-57mm)? PS: Weimann 500 seems to...

Looking for a vintage road(-ish) frameset for medium reach brakes (47-57mm). Unfortunately most sellers don't specify that (and most framesets seem to be for short reach anyway). What are nice frames to look for? If a frame has fender eyelets, does that mean it's usually more than short reach...

Re: Honestly I don't get to ride much apart from commuting. And locking away the bike properly is neither a problem at home, nor at work. So I'd rather take one of the vintage frames (there's a handful :oops: ) and put it to work. The commute part of the trip is going to be only 10k sometimes...

Background: my new work site is like 2h away on the train. Good news: I don't need to go every day and there's some great countryside terrain in between here and there. Also no problem splitting the distance between train and bike. So it's time to build a nice commuter / touring bike. Naturally...

Huh I thought from seattube forward (pedaling direction) would tighten the BB, so it doesn't loosen from pedaling while in use? Am i totally confused?
