Pro Stop Brakes - Mountin Cycle hubs - Sun Rims
Could anyone give me a ball park figure for how much these are worth?
Pro Stop FH brakes - Front and back, Aluminium floating disks (huge) on Mountain Cycle hubs laced to Sun Rims - Singlewide.
Front caliper has an adaptor fitted to allow...
I hope this is in the right place, apologies if it isn't.
Please help, I've decided that the time has come to part with these but have no idea about their value. I know that they are one of the first Full Hydraulic systems that were produced. I know that when set up correctly they work very...
Tis mine
Finally found my login info.
It's my auction. Good luck gingernuts/badger and thanks John for listing it for the good folks on retrobike to see.

I don't suppose you have any fitments lying about that might fit these hoses? Or know where I might source them - Cambria only appear to have the actual hose, not the ends.

FairfaxPat - Is it nice and warm over there? I'm more likely to need to crack the ice off the disks over here at the moment, maybe I'll start getting that issue when there is more brake fluid than air in the hoses. :) When I used them on the bike they came on, a Marin B17, they seemed fine...
Thanks for that link, I've mailed them with some questions re. their stock and its compatibility.
Does anyone have any experience in bleeding these brakes? Does anyone know anything about them that could be of use?
Cheers,
Simon
I've a pair of old ProStop hydraulic brakes, I've had to stop using them, as I cannot find anywhere to get new seals or hoses from and they don't seem to want to bleed in the current state. They are complete with Mountain cycle hubs running floating disks on a pair of Sunn singletrack rims...
Thanks again, the guy that did the adaptor would no doubt be able to manage the fabrication you mention but, unfortunately he no longer works at our local shop.
Also, the thickness of the disk may then be a problem as the Prostop rotors are about 4mm thick - thicker than you're average...
Prostop brakes, they look different to the ones that I have, i.e. mine have a piston in the lever, are they the cable version?
Do you have any idea where to get spares and maintenence kits for these brakes - can't get mine to bleed.

Tried the Mountain Cycle support - no use though unfortunatley. As for the Hopes, I think it would mean changing the Hubs also, as the ones on the bike at the moment have a different bolt pattern. Starts to get expensive when the wheels being rebuilt is taken into consideration (I'm only going...
Dave_H - cheers, I have an adaptor fitted to the swingarm as you mentioned (not shown in pic). The problem is the Pro Stop (Mountain Cycle brakes), they just won't bleed, on top of that I can't find a maintenence kit for them i.e. new seels etc. Anyone - or any idea of price to sell the bike at...
Hello, total newbie here,
Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to throw on this.
I'm thinking of selling my old Marin full sus. however, I purchased it second hand and don't know what it is - B17, Mount Vision, Wolf Ridge etc. Looks as though its been stripped back to the...
