What happened to barends? When did they go out of use?

Re: Ahh, the bar end... gone but nor forgotten. All my retro rides have then, except the CR7. I remember seeing them first appear at the Malverns, the pro's were riding the original Onza stubbies... went to my local store, Haywards in Cambridge, you couldn't get them for love or...

when was last year bike manufactures used thumbies

Interesting, yes, my 94 Kona Explosif came with suntour thumbies, I thinking the Marin IFT it replaced had rapidfire by that time, had never really thought about that before.

"Fat Tire Flyer" goes on sale

This expat may just need to get his pre-order in... I'll give it a plug on the DORBA fb page, we have done great things in Dallas in building a trail network that will rival most metro areas.

    Lets restore this frame.

Start watching ebay like a hawk for specific parts you're looking for, and the for sale posts on this forum.

    Lets restore this frame.

Yep, the IFT was much fatter and polished Al. I broke the frame after 18 months and switched to 94 Explosif.

Recovering a saddle with leather - my first try!

Yeah, ditto on what type of glue to people use? Is it a contact adhesive, I assume something that doesn't dissolve the foam! I have a Fisher saddle I need to do, and maybe my flite that's looking kinda rough these days. Fortunately we have a good supply of leather in the next city over...

    Fisher owners?

^^^ I have one of those sitting in my front room in bits as well, its just back from being powder coated. Had to drill out one of the BB bolts, fortunately they seem to be standard metric and was able to get a new one at Home Depot last night. Hopefully tonight I'll do some more work on her.

    Help - rounded Allen bolt

    Help - rounded Allen bolt

Dad lives 5000 miles away... Would be an expensive fix... Anyway back fro. Sears with a set of craftsman drill-out/screw-out that basically looks like what has been suggested a bit that cuts into the damaged Allen hole, so we'll see, soaking with penetrating oil right now.... I also got a...

    Help - rounded Allen bolt

Yep I'm familiar with easy outs....I've also had one snap on me on my subaru ps pump.. But I think it may have been made of monkey metal... Oh to have access to my dad's garage... I may just drill the head so I can separate the two parts which will make it 100% easier to work on. I can get...
