I agree, they've been fantastic about all my questions. I love digging into bike history so it's right up my alley
I would love to. Once I get my hands on the parts I have in mind, I'll do so.
Would anyone here happen to have his contact info? The Facebook page and Instagram page haven't been...
I agree! I'll do my best to treat the minor rusting around the frame, then put some worthy parts on it. I'll try and make another post once I've finished with it.
I also received a bit more info from Kona about the Haole program at the time:
Alright, so I've gotten the bike back home and I've poked around a bit. There are a few clues that lead me to believe it's a 1995 Kona Haole. The Haoles in this year were painted blue and made with Columbus MiniMax, as you can see in the catalogue page here:
They also had their braze-ons for...

I'll keep you posted if they reply. Your thread about the kapu was a fantastic read, and very helpful to me. I'm glad you finally got your hands on your dream bike.
I don't have the bike with me yet, but I'm on an hour long bus ride to go pick it up right now. The anticipation is killing me...
Wonderful, thanks for the info and the hope! What's the deal with Tom Teesdale? It seems he was a pretty gifted framebuilder according to Google.
Did he work with titanium? It seems he was mostly a steel builder, at least when it came to mountain bikes. I plan to bring a magnet tomorrow and see...
I've been digging through catalogues all day and I can't seem to nail down which model this bike is. My best guess (and prayer) at this point is a Haole, because the rear dropouts have a window cut out that I haven't seen on any Kapu models.
I have a picture of the drive side, non-drive side...
