Looking for a nice frame to build a first 'big' bike for my son.
Cosmetic condition not a priority as we can refinish the frame if needs be. But needs to be straight / threads good etc.
Budget up to £100. but will consider more for something special.

Yeah. I've become a bit sick of alu chainrings lasting one winter.
I use a surly steel chainring. It is too new on the bike to comment on longevity.. but looks the part.
I've had 7 - 8 speed Shimano STX LX XT groupset stuff last well on touring/commuter bikes... if cleaned. Hubs not quite so good. Currently have an old mid 90's XTR front hub which has lasted very well
Invested in a 2nd hand rohloff many years ago. Was an expensive gamble but not regretted it...
Was a pretty solid 'overbuilt' rear triangle and dropouts from memory.
I mashed and bent the (non replaceable) gear hanger on mine good and proper over the years though though! Moved to using a gear hub to continue using the frame late in it's life.
