What's happened to all the "stuff"

I've never bought in this forum. Most of the stuff I buy or sell is cheap middle range so that postage is not worth it. And my local market is good enough to provide most of what I need. With the arrival of CUES, incompatible with previous 9-10-11 Shimano stuff, the new stuff soon to be...

    Twisted tubes, bike ID required

A German brand, Checker Pig, used to have similar frames in the late 90's, although the twist was not so sharp as the one here. I even had one shortly that I bought just for the XT v brakes. Search for "Checker Pig spiral". The frame in mine was some flavour of Tange, and the twist was in theory...

    Upcycling, recycling, repurposing bike parts

Reading in another thread about re using rear gear cables for the front derailleur (something I also do, including brake cables), I thought it would be good to compile some of the hacks and tricks from the very experienced forum members. There's a similar thread here, also good but more for...

Something is wrong: Cheap old Cantilever is better than modern cheap V brakes? Top Line 93-94

I keep my cantilever because v brake arms are always too short for wide tires+mudguards. Not enough clearance. Braking power is irrelevant...

    What do you keep?

Like the OP, I also got a bit scared of some of the pictures in the shed thread. If I ever get to those levels, I would be overwhelmed. Right now I've even done a spreadsheet with all the family bikes (at home, by my parents, by the in-laws) and I'm slowly but surely purging one at a time...

what jockey wheels with what derailleur?

Thanks for the answer. Regarding the jockey wheels, I live in the continent, it's probably more expensive the postage than the value of the wheels themselves. Thanks for the offer though! Regarding the bolts, I have learnt since that most exploded views include the size of the bolts, and most...

    Converting Retrobikes into gravel rigs.

Yes, I was going to say the same. Trek started using that font from 1997 onwards. And putting the number on the top tube instead of seat tube even later, so maybe 99-00

what jockey wheels with what derailleur?

I've searched the forum with no success, apologies if the answer is already hidden somewhere. As the title says, I am looking for jockey wheels. As part of the bounty when picking up a bike a few weeks ago, the guy took the chance to empty his cellar and gave me a box full of spare parts (the...

    Converting Retrobikes into gravel rigs.

I'm currently overhauling a '93 Trek 750, and will put drop bars on it, which for many counts already as "gravel conversion". I'll post when finished. However, since gravel bikes have been already around for a while, used ones start to pop up in my local classifieds for about the same price a...

Show us the gravel adventure bike you've built!

And not a 26", but a 730 Multitrack I "tourified" to cycle with the family from Germany to Spain this summer. In this picture without the 6 panniers and the 6 y-o kid that usually does not feel like helping with the pedaling at all. And below the full convoy after a snack break outside a...
