    Cotic Soul 26

That’s lovely. I’ve got a black 2007 soul which I love. Is it retro if you’ve owned it from new? It doesn’t feel that long but I imagine it’s eligible to vote this summer.

    Bikes and puddles

Taking a photo specifically for this thread might a little desperate. Or it might not. Family pootle in the New Forest yesterday.

    Bikes and trains

Romsey to Salisbury and then back on the train. A very civilised way of spending a Friday evening 😊

    Bikes and puddles

I can’t top the flooding in Florida. That’s a lot of water! My commute home was flooded for about a week quite a few years ago. The police closed the road but I ignored them and all I got was wet socks. Nice, quiet roads too 😊 Not dramatic. Definitely a puddle. The New Forest, England. Ages ago...

    Bikes and puddles

Bikes and bridges and bikes and trains are great. Do we also need a bikes and puddles thread? I think we might. I'll go first. This wasn't the worst one. the one just round the bend was hub and BB deep. I'm sure Retrobike can top this easily.

    Bikes and trains

Sway in the New Forest. When the train arrived, there were people without bikes clogging up the bike storage area. The guard was fantastic. She made them all move to the 'people weirdly without bikes' section. She too no prisoners :)

1999/2000 Marin East Peak / Shoreline Trail

Rode my NRS yesterday. I've ridden the Marin a lot lately and got used to it. Wow, the NRS feels weird! The Marin is smooth. The suspension is pretty unobtrusive. The NRS climbs better but when the suspension does its thing, you really notice it. I was worried at the start that I'd spent a lot...

1999/2000 Marin East Peak / Shoreline Trail

STICKERS!!! And other things. I think I have the bike feeling pretty good now. It takes a few rides (it takes me a few rides, anyway) to figure out exactly what the 'not quite right' feelings from a bike are. In this case, the front end was too low. I'd already swapped the bars and that...

1999/2000 Marin East Peak / Shoreline Trail

The price of forks and shocks just seems weird. I bought a Kona frame with a Fox Float R in it for, I think, £57. It’s pretty old but it seems fine. There are broken shocks on eBay for more than £57! For this reason, the Marin got a very nice new Fox shock when Wiggle was dying. It wasn’t...

1999/2000 Marin East Peak / Shoreline Trail

In that photo, eBay. I think. There was someone nearby selling one. I guess I was lucky. On the way to building the above I built up a Giant NRS which I’d bought as a parts donor. One of the ‘donor’ parts was another reba fork. I think, if you are prepared to spend a little more, complete...

    2000 Marin Mount Vision Build

Mine seemed to be a super tight 27.2. My neighbour and I spent time with a dremel making it less tight. It seems ok now.

    2000 Marin Mount Vision Build

Mine is half East Peak (swingarm) and half Shoreline Trail (front bit). Google suggests the shoreline trail was at the low end of the range. The steel swingarm weighs a tonne but the front half felt about the same as the East Peak front half.
