I had considered the heatshrink method but it will mean bleeding the brakes again (which being Avid's is a right faff!).
Luckily Loxy off here has come to the rescue with some spare ones he had off an old cannondale. 8)

just found an American forum where they have suggested running the hose loosely through the guides, marking where the guides are on the hose and removing the hose and wrapping with insulation tape at those points!! It seems like a bodge to me but has anyone done it this way??
