That's right - the wheels were black initially, but I seem to remember there was an insurmountable hub or cassette or freewheel problem of some sort which required the purchase of a new one. I may even have built that one up myself - I know I built one wheel after making my own jig from the wood...

Yeah... could be an idea to fit a front wheel of some sort and ride it a bit somewhere safe just to check it's still weight-bearing, before I repaint, actually,... I have a shotblaster attachment so might give that a go. And could be an idea to Waxoyl inside the tubes too, I suppose. It's not...

Yeah, I always attributed the headtube cracking to the frame not being strong enough to withstand heavy use of the front brake, even though I'm pretty sure back in those days I was more of a rear-braker... Don't think I was aware at the time that there was an aero version of the RRS anyway -...
