    1994 Stumpjumper grey green

Thanks! I'll definitely use those pictures for a colormatch! As I recall, the bike originally had a silver Specialized ahead stem, with a small logo-decal on top, and two-bolt faceplate. Could that be true? Cheers, Ulrich

Amazing frame and history. And those brakes!!!! Are they as powerless, as I fear? They're certainly beautiful! 8) Very nice!

    Work bikes

My everyday bike since 1998. Bought it as an Ultegra equipped roadbike back in '97, moved the parts to a nice steel frame, and it has been like this since. :-) Fast and light! 7-speed with an XT thumbshifter.

Very nice bike! Keep the Middleburns. They go well with the Syncros Ti post, and are much nicer to look at than XTR's! Go for a silver stem, and keep a riser bar on for a bit taller front end. And, as somebody wrote, matching headset, seatclamp and skewers are a must. Oh, and a black...

26.0 mm stem and 25.4 mm handlebar. Will it work?

Yup. Might be a good idea. Heard bad things about that type of shimming though. Will it wear out over time? Maybe I should use a strip of can from a strong beer, or something like that...

26.0 mm stem and 25.4 mm handlebar. Will it work?

I have a really nice NOS ControlTech road ahead stem. This has a clamp diameter of 26.00 mm. But I would like to fit it with a mountainbike handlebar for my commuter bike. This is 25.4 mm though. Does anybody know if this stem will be able to clamp the handlebar securely, without damaging...
