Thanks JimJim
I had to laugh because in the shed is an Azonic DS1 that my son built up some years back, with Marzocchi forks and a Haynes rear disc. He has said I can use it and that may be the way forward, until he needs is again. Mind you I'll need to fit some new cranks as the arms are...
Thanks for the ideas and offers. Having recently tried a Marin Rocky Ridge I have come to the conclusion that I'll need a small/15" frame with long travel forks. Moreover, I am inclining more towards a complete build (or close) rather than a project.
Any other offers appreciated.
I'm looking for a small sized (15-17") hardtail frame or bike to compliment my 1996 Orange P7 build from last year. Please get in touch if you can help out.
XT kit
Thanks for the update...
.. but damn! finding a top pull bottom swing (i.e. top band) 31.8mm front mech to fit my P7 is proving to be a challenge. :(
If you or anyone has one of these blighters I'll bite yer hand off.
Front mech
Thanks for the help Anthony and I will be running 42-22T so will be compact. I'd taken earlier advice and links to http://datenbanken.freepage.de/cgi-bin/feets/freepage_ext/41030x030A/rewrite/traut/SHIMANO.html#96 and http://www.mombat.org/Shimano.htm that gave M739/8 as 1996. But...
Front mech
hmmm
http://www.mombat.org/Shimano.htm says 'Front derailleur: FD-M739 (top swing) or FD-M738 for compact chain rings, Advanced Light Action' but I don't what compact chain rings are :(
You might be right...
Thanks Fingers. Ow do you it? My 31.8mm tube is 'squashed' to 30.4 min and 33.6 max and I can't see how to get a clamp to fit neatly and securely to take the tension.
I am looking for a front mech for my 1996 P7. I'd like to go all XT kit and have spec of M739. But on trying my LX it appears I need a bottom swing (top pull) as the seat tube ovulates at near the BB and a top swing bracket won't fit.
Can anyone confirm my diagnosis, and if so advise if a top...
Cassette and front mech
I'm interested in the:
XT m737 8spd Cassette
XT m739 Cranks/rings
XT m739 front mech
if still available.
Need to check if mech IS top pull, bottom swing and diameter. Thanks.
P7 build
Thanks for all the advice which is much appreciated. I may be measuring the stem angle incorrectly - I did it perpendicular to the axis of the stem (as though it was sat horizontal) and got about 6-7 degrees. Obviously more when fitted.
The X-lite Fly stem does look cool, if I can...
