Don't get your knickers in a twist mate. Wasn't aware of that 1998 upwards one. I consider myself educated.
Maybe one of the moderators would be kind enoughto move the thread. Cheers.
I realise that a 2005 frame isn't wholly retro but I am interested in advice which is why I'm here. I value the experience of others even in more contemporary areas. Besides, my question about forks was not completely aimed at carbon ones but to find out what size rigid forks I'd need to replace...
Disscontinued mate. Apparently though they're exactly the same as nukeproof and exotic carbons though. Might just save up for a brand new set of exotics in a 445mm.
At least with a lighter front end I'll be able to pull a wheelie :D
Had the same problem recentely. Just made sure they was copious amounts of nitromores shoved in them then left for a while.
Did the entire bike in nitromores though and it took 2 days. Not sure what Kona put on their bikes in 2005 but half of the paint seemed bulletproof.
My bike build is almost done (Kona 2005 frame) but I still need a front fork, and prefereably a rigid one.
The bike would have originally came with a Marzocchi DJ suspension fork with a 100mm drop so, after investigation and trawling various forums, its seems that a rigid fork of 445mm seems...
Thanks for all the advice guys. I am though trying to keep the price down to a minimum so I'm doing all the work myself including the spraying (I've done a lot of spraying in my time). As I say, its a project that I've already got a lot of enjoyment out of because I'm doing everything myself and...
No offence taken El, the thought crossed my mind too when I found out what I'd bought. I literally just got the frame by itself though and I'm only really buying second hand stuff to do it up so I'm not spending a fortune. I like the style of the Kona frame though and I like having something...
Cheers El. Good advice.
I'm also thinking of going with a rigid fork. Mostly because I feel more precise with them over a shock fork but also because they save a tonne on weight. Another point is cost as even a second hand cheap suspension fork goes for £50 plus.
Was thinking about a...
Cheers guys. According to bikepedia the 05 Hoss Delux came with a raceface SRS ISIS bottom bracket. Just getting used to all this new (even in 2005) tech and I'm not sure whether it takes one of those exteral BB's or not, or even how they differ from old ones. Can anyone advise?
Hi everyone, after losing a bit of fitness after an eye op at the start of the year I'm putting a bike together to get back in shape and thought I'd go back to mountain bikes. Last decent bike I had was a Diamond Back probably circa 1993 but I've got what appears to be an old early 2000's Giant...
