After a bit of a hiatus I finally finished my rebuild of the Orbit and have taken it for a spin. It’s nice and light and the gears work crisply. The new Dura Ace downtube shifters work perfectly with the old front and rear mechs.

Good idea about de-stickering. I always thought they looked a bit garish but hadn’t realised they are just stickers that peel off easily. Also, good to hear you think the 10-speed down tube shifters should partner the old 105 mechs okay. I’ll provide another update shortly.

They’d only had the frame a day or two at most and they’d already phoned me 3 times to report their findings on various issues I’d asked them to look at and had already had it on a jig and straightened the rear triangle. Great customer service. Just wish I was local as I’d love to...
Thanks for the confirmation. The build quality of my 1989 Orbit America frame isn’t a match for your BJ, but at least the paint job will be! Flamboyant Red and gold lugs it is!
