Re:
Just a quick update.
I replaced the shifters and derailleurs with XTR 960 and am enjoying 9 speed and solid shifts. It's not period specific but this bike is being built to ride, not be a museum piece and I think it looks amazing. The dual control shifting is nice, but I'm not sure how...
Note: Mods if you think the Bontrager data should split from the bike build I'd be happy to do that. Now that this is typed up it's rather long!
It was suggested by Mike Muz that I make a build thread for my 1992 Bontrager Race that I am working on rebuilding and eventually repainting. I...
Yeah that's what I'm getting at. The different size bolts will be an issue in some way. It makes sense that I I would need to bore out the older FSX lowers to accept the larger bolts.
Would it also mean that there will be a bore gap on the SL lowers with the smaller bolt in it?
I'm trying...
I'm with you now. I re-read your post and the 15 watt lightbulb over my head is slowly starting to light up.
Thanks for re-wording it. I think I'm following (finally). :D
Re: Re:
haha tempting!
No seriously, you touched on what I'm bringing up. The allen bolts between the two forks would be different sizes so the legs wouldn't be interchangeable right?
I can't use the crown bolt swap method because the newer Judy SL has pressed in stanchion tubes and I...
Re:
Thanks for the great replys, I really appreciate it.
Sound like I'm good to go with moving the crown and stanchion tubes between the lowers and leave the internals alone.
One question though, if the fixing bolts in the bottom are different sizes in the lowers are the threads that they...
I'm wondering if I can swap these two lowers. I'm trying to avoid repainting the Judy SL's to black. I could never handle the SL and now they they will be used on a Bontrager restoration I like them even less. I need to get a 1" threadless crown on the FSX fork to get it on my Bontrager...
Thanks for checking on the bosses Lid.
Kellyjk, I just sent you a PM. Sounds like you have the anti chain suck. I'll gladly cover postage and pay it forward. And sho you the bike it's going on as it get's restored. :)
Re:
That looks great! This is the exact color scheme I wanted to go with. Dark grey with yellow trim decals. I thought I had never seen one in that color scheme but I wonder if I saw a picture of yours in a google search and the idea stuck in the back of my head.
Maybe I...
