Re: Wow - been a long time since I posted on this thread. That Peugeot in the link in the post above is lovely isn't it, and 9.8kg in such a big frame! Anyway, my Vitus is still going strong. Had a few adjustments over the last couple of years. Now has a longer stem, wider, 'ergo,' bars...

Well I did buy one from prof farnsworth which has now arrived and is fitted to the bike. Very happy to have a matching pair of shifters and now have an XT thumbie to get rid of. Thanks for the offer of help development_cycle. Rich

Hi all, Just bought a battered GT Karakoram for way more than I should have. Unfortunately I’m missing the left shifter/brake lever. Anyone have one as per the title? Happy to buy a pair if necessary. Rich

Re: The derailleur works fine but the indexing on the shifter doesn't work right with the biggest gear on the cassette. Can either set it so it won't climb on to that one or won't fall off it but not both. Got a 7speed lever on the way anyway. Rich

Re: Just to update this. Bought a NOS early hyperglide body with the uniglide and hyperglide threading to give me the option to put the old cassette back on if I had problems. 7speed 13-30 HG cassette on and just enough clearance to the chain stay for it to all work. Currently running friction...

I could, but Bristol is a bit hilly and apart from the UG cassette being a bit knackered, I'm looking to shorten the gearing a bit as I'm just not fit enough to handle 42-28, hence new chain rings and a 13-30 to at least give me 40-30 for the hills! Hoping that the rd-1050 will handle the 30t...

Is there any difference between free hubs, worth looking for a higher quality one or are they all comparable? Hyperglide cassette 13-30 on order, just need to order a free hub now. Regs, Rich

Hi All, Sorry to question a topic that seems to have been talked about a lot, but I'm still not clear and have been thrown even more questions by a LBS. I currently have full 1050 1st gen 105 group set with 6x2 SIS and all pretty worn out from commuting. It's time to refresh things...
