    Just bought a PUCH

    I like it, it must be a later one than mine with it's squeezed on lugs (induction welded?). Is it the prima level replacement?

    New Project

    The lugs came from e-bay as did the chainstays, the seatstays are salvaged from an old Giant (sorry) frame I bought top practice on. The fork components are new from Ceeways (http://www.framebuilding.com/) who also sell everything you need to build a bike. They do mail order (my boss lives near...

    Re: New Project Paint test Much as I fancy the idea of Maximum Application painting my bike I can't help but want to do everything myself so heres my test with posh rattle cans (2k matt base and laquer). I think the Puch was more Cadbury purple but this dark purple look nice so I'm likely to...

    1983(?) Raleigh Sirocco

    I like that, I would like to do a bike decals and all but then I remember the paint is just a layer of protection and enjoy the ride at the end of project. Tip..carefully applied heat from a blowtorch and a wire brush can strip a frame in about 20 minutes.

    New Project

    A bit of progress, chainstay and brake bridges now fitted. I'm just doing a pre paint assemble to fine tune my choice of components. This also give me a chance to dither over the paint. I'm trying to slow down a bit as theres no rush to finish. It's currently a 9 speed 11-32 xt cassette, ultegra...

    New Project

    Frames all brazed up. Just put the wheels on for a confidence booster, all looks nice and straight; The old chainstays were horrible and fell apart on removal (a good choice to scrap; I have got the bits to build new front forks but I've replaced enough already so i'm not sure I should use...

    New Project

    A Bit of progress. Chainstays tacked in, bottom bracket height checked, wheel width set at 130 and stays levelled an aligned with front tubes. Next job to tack seat stays to lock it in place, recheck and fully silver solder the chainstays and bridge piece. 531 stays with Suntour dropouts...

    New Project

    I use a Rothenberger Mapp torch and Silver Solder. The mapp runs about 100 degrees hotter than propane and melts 40% silver solder easily. It is hot enough to melt brass brazing rods but it's at its limits. Its not hot enough to break brazed joints though. I tend to use a combination of brazing...

    New Project

    Right frame is a now smaller 21" and it has some stops brazed on for the cables. Just need to do the stays now. I think the frame survived this long due to all the oil inside it (the fires out now);

    New Project

    It's a bit easier than 5 linking a Cortina I can tell you.
