Ideally after an 8 spd rear hub with 36 hole, just the rear for now because I think I might be able to source a NOS front wheel. See I'm trying to keep the transmission STX-RC. This sounds interesting.

You're preaching to the converted as I too would take 7 over anything else any day. I really wanted to go 7 speed but I acquired some 8 spd STX-RC shifters for free and have had to work it all around that, I now have the rear derailleur to match. Ok I'll remember that, thanks for the tip offs...

I was wondering if anyone's got any recommendations regarding 135mm spaced, 8 speed, non disc, QR hubs from the '90s I was thinking STX-RC but they're proving quite difficult to find, what others could I opt for from this era? What about LX or XT, Hope? Ringle? I don't think my budget will...

Those are exactly like the ones I had on my Marin, I must admit they would be more in keeping with the components I've collected for the project so far.

I've just done an image search of that type, they look cool and would be in keeping with the look of the mid '90s frame I've got, I'll have a think, I'm not going to be able to get anything else this month now but if they are still going around this time in Dec I might take you up on that offer...

Parts I've sourced so far STX RC 3x8 shifters, Diacomp Power Control brake levers, Tektro lightweight cantilevers, STX RC rear derailleur on the way, Saracen seatpost, late '90s DMR V8? pedals (in need of a service) once I figure out how to get the seal off. Parts I need... STX RC FH MC38A...

They are very nice, it's definitely the later 3x8 set up I'm going to need because I've got to work it around my 3x8 shifters. I think I'm beginning to understand the different numbering on the components now, I think I might need the parts that end in MC 36/38 eg the rear hub needs to be the 8...

I can't remember how to IM on this but I'm interested in buying this derailleur.

That looks so nice, I'm only able to buy a bit at a time for this project and feel I need to get the hubs as soon as possible, if that's still available next month I'd definitely buy that off you.
