I've mostly been using this as a commuting bike with full length mudguards since I built it but every so often I get the urge to take it for a proper ride.
I bought a pair of Manitou forks and put the knobbly tyres back on and rode my local trails.

Hi Dan, I did eventually find a working shock. I just kept buying them when they popped up in here or on eBay and they were cheap enough to take a gamble. Think I bought 4 before I found a good one. They do seem to be more expensive when they appear now.

They are V12 pedals. They have the Allen head cap and shinny axle and sport cartridge bearings. The V8 had a plastic end cap, loose ball bearings and a dull grey axle.
I'm pretty sure they were the first DMR pedals and were pretty special when released, I bought a set identical to the ones...
Those original Dia Compe cable discs that came on Marins had their own BDC.
