Kona Caldera Serial Number List - list updated 04/11/24

Nice to see another, looks bigger than 16" to me.

Kona Hei Hei Titanium 19 inch - how much is it worth?

Nice bike, the short seat-tube extension and flatter top tube would suggest later than '93, and the decal style is '94 (if they re original), so it is probably a '94 bike. You could compare the serial number to the Kona Ti S/N list to get a better idea, and you can post in that thread to get it...

Sorted Kona Explosif - 2004-10? or other steel disc Kona.

Sorry, yes it sold a while ago.

    1999 Kona Caldera frame.

For Kona's of this era, if you have access to the frame, measure the seat tube, centre of BB to the top of the tube, that will give you the size as Kona measured it. Unfortunately that year's catalogue didn't have a geometry chart, it wouldn't be too different from the 2000 frames though. I...

    The ultimate Kona Jersey/Merch Thread

Unfortunately not or, if it was, it has lost it's effect over the years.

Yeah, the tube seems to bulge out, but at the weld it looks more oval in shape. Comparing to some of my frames from a similar angle it looks closer to the '92 Kilauea (so same frame as the Cinder Cone and Lava Dome). No one has taken a gamble on it yet any way, with an hour to go.

Some rather obscure 10th Anniversary merch from '98, the Kona Frisbee!

I'd be very doubtful of that. The integrated seat clamp was gone on Konas by '92 (other than a few Explosif Pro's), and that version of the impact headset, which is probably the only bit of original kit left, was finished in '93. And the seller has now added a couple of extra pictures, without...

    Kona Rasta Flame

Interesting, the frame was made spring/summer of '98, which makes sense as it has the '98 cable routing, but is a Columbus frame when the Explosifs of that time were Reynolds 853 (my '98 853 Explosif frame is H8G0 7405 so built at roughly the same time, same factory). And they therefore were...

    Kona Rasta Flame

I second the comment about @al-onestare 's thread, a great read and a great bike. I'll be honest seeing this is making me jealous, probably the one frame left that I really, really want to own! And that frame looks in great condition too. The Kona stamped dropouts first appeared on the Explosif...

    Kona Rasta Flame

Wow, looks like one of the Team Explosif's rather than a Hot.

Judging by the integrated seat-clamp it would likely be a resprayed '91 frame. Difficult to see if it has the classic 'Prestige' bulge at the BB so I don't think it is an Explosif. A decent, but strange, mix of components would make it a good deal if it doesn't go much above the starting price...

    Tired explosif, dream pricing

Also worth noting it is the wrong fork, a P2 from either '94 or '95 so there is no guarantee they are the triple butted version which would effect their value.

    kona HOT flames

I have seen pictures of both matt and gloss, although it is not always clear from a photo. The catalogue image appears to be matt ... ... but this one is almost certainly gloss. And this looks like it is both in one photo. Then there are examples of flames in other colours (like...
