Re: And here's a photo if it parked up by the river. Given the fact it's winter, and this bike hadn't been ridden before I gave it some love, I guess I could have called this trip "First Mud".

Re: Here's the latest update. I found some no-quite suitable pedals, a slightly later model saddle, and some reproduction TLC Fire XCs (which I painstakingly removed the TLC labels from the sidewalls so they'd look correct.) I gave the bike a good shakedown cruise today around some riverside...

Re: Re: Yup, I have that much figured. I prefer these dropouts, they just look more old school. But even more so MK1, or (MK0?), is the pivot mount, which is welded to both the downtube AND seat tube, the latter being omitted soon after.

Re: After some many months (or even a year?), this bike is still an ongoing project that just hasn't had the budget or attention at all times. Anyway, here it is with some Magura HS22s I picked up for $40 NZD, I'd have preferred HS33s with two-finger levers but the clutch-sized levers of these...

Re: Re: I was thinking the same as I wanted disc mounts but ended up buying a whole frame when 1 poped up on here. A welder you know will always do the job for cheap. I know it's supposed to be heat treated etc. before it goes into service, but given it's a very tiny part of the bike, and...

Re: Re: Have you considered an emergency hanger? Most of them slip over the QR skewer, some include a stepped nut and allow some varying amounts of adjustment. It might be a good short-term fix. Ultimately seeing a welder would probably be your best bet, or cutting, filing, and drilling to...

Re: Here's what you didn't see in the previous photos. Surprisingly, it's dead smooth to the touch, it just looks awful. I can't understand how they got this bad, other than the bike was stored badly, or travelled badly, at a point when it was no longer of much value to the original owner. That...

Re: Re: Yes! Replace it with a red Z2 Bomber instead. You'll find those available for not much, there's a pair on ebay right now as we speak that are going for a song. The internals are much the same, just the amount of available travel is different (80mm). Edit: I just thought about...

Definitely a bike worthy of those Bombers. Any reason for the black swingarm? I didn't ask about bushings, I'm not sure if I'll need them or not. The guy who sold the stanchions to me is a fellow retrobike user, goes by the name "kraeMit" and has very reasonable prices. He had a post up well...

I just tracked down a pair of NOS stanchions for the Z1 bombers. I'll order some NOS seals now too, since I don't need to worry about destroying them in just a few hours of use. The pivot bearings should be here any time now, and I've ordered a suitable bottom bracket (Shimano UN55, nobody will...

What to do with this Marzocchi Bomber Parts??

The top picture says "Z1 Bam", which is exactly what I'm needing, but x2.

What to do with this Marzocchi Bomber Parts??

I know I'm a year or more late, but do you still have these? I need two 1990's (30mm) Z1 stanchions...

Here's my current project which I thought I should share with you all. It's an early Santa Cruz Heckler, I believe the 1996 model due to the shape of the dropouts and pivot bracket (fixed at both the downtube and seat tube). Originally purchased directly from Santa Cruz, in Santa Cruz, and...
