    USE post hardware fitment issues...

Re: Has the bottom of the clamp been visibly ground away as one of mine appears to have come like that. I wonder whether there were different parts for different fitments as my post for the bolts is also shorter than above.

    USE post hardware fitment issues...

Re: I can't speak for the op but on mine the bar the bolts go through is much shorter. In fact the bolt heads almost touch the post. Whilst your front clamp has the central part that comes down towards the bolt one of mine is almost flat.. That is, I believe, the only reason I managed to fit a...

    USE post hardware fitment issues...

Re: I had exactly the same issue with the same saddle. Fortunately for me the top clamps were different. One had a longer threaded area than the other. I swapped them round and it was fine. The bar that goes through the post could do with being slightly longer though and I believe they do...

Wheel needs to be re-dished ... or is there another option?

Re: I'd be tempted to slacken off the drive side spokes half a turn and tighten the non drive side a quarter turn if it needs a little more tweaking. I know you don't want to mess around but it's a ten minute job tops. What's the worst that could happen? You take it to the shop and they fix it...

    GT Joblot

First Project - 90's GT Advice

Re: It's difficult to tell from the picture but it may be one of the later models. I'm no expert but I believe the original most sought after Zaskar were handmade in the USA and had a flat end cap. Later models were more of a "mass produced" model and made in Taiwan and lacked the flat end cap...

First Project - 90's GT Advice

Re: None of the original Zaskar had internal routing. Zaskars have a flat end cap and 6061 stamped on the drop out.

First Project - 90's GT Advice

Re: Obviously a Zaskar would be ideal and they do come along at a reasonable price sometimes. I picked up a complete bike for £150 so they are out there. Failing that I'd look for an avalanche or pantera as I love the polished frames. However it's upto you which you prefer. You could still add...

Kona Kilauea with eye watering BIN

This white one has been for sale for a while now. The white one that sold the other week had a lot of paint damage on the seat tube. They wanted £500 for it but got no where near that.

Kona Kilauea with eye watering BIN

Re: Got to love the description... Everything is original on it.... Parts that have been changed are the saddle to a Specialized Rolls style saddle, handlebar grips to Tomac grips. For that much you'd think they'd spend 20 minutes giving it a clean.

    Dia Compe Headset woes

Re: Can't help thinking your lower seal is the wrong way round but I may be reading it wrong. I recently had problems with my headset knocking although it was an impact headset. The problem was I didn't install the lower seal because it's all chewed up after the previous owner installed the...
