    Goldtec Hub help, please

I actually have no idea what grade it was. I cut a couple of chunks from a piece of 10mm thick flat bar that I still had. I had it left over from making an exhaust manifold a while back. A lot of "precision" angle grinding later and I was able to get the dremel on it while avoiding my...

    Goldtec Hub help, please

Well, I got a bit fed up with fruitless searches, research and phone calls... I have no idea why, but those pawls are apparently magical pixie dust collected from unicorns. So I went out into the garage and made one! The lathe is unfortunately out of action, so I was left with angle grinder...

    Retrobike Electric Bike Conversion

Haha. Somebody actually refreshed the "retro" conversion recently. I'm not going to look it up though. On the stealth install, it's a Gruber / Vivax Assist: https://www.electricbike.com/gruber-assist/ Actually I'm quite impressed at 200W!!! It is NOT cheap though!!! I've ridden a few...

    Retrobike Electric Bike Conversion

I'm pretty sure a system like that made some waves in cyclocross not that long ago. Having said that, I'm sure there is a German system that works on decal assist as it interfaces on the crank anyway. I'll look it up. I'd question the value though - 100W, not sure it would be worthwhile...

    Retrobike Electric Bike Conversion

Sorry, Not a big fan of the hub motor type. I'd be going BB mounted motor, personally. Something like a Bafang. They have the controller integrated and you can actually use the torque they produce on your gears. They go from a street legal (UK) 250W to a mind-blowing 1000W out of the box...

    Goldtec Hub help, please

Hi All, I need some help, please! Today, I pulled apart my goldtec rear hub to investigate a little side to side play that allowed the cassette to move a little. I initially thought something was wrong with the end-cap as it looked as if the cassette was sliding over it. Well - I seem to...

    1997 ParkPre ALU Max

Update: I've stripped all the modern stuff back, apart from the headset which is an M-Part component and is actually in good condition. I have no idea whether or not to attempt to source a period headset, given that this one looks almost exactly like the original... I have already acquired a...

    Unexpected arrival - Specialized FSR

Re: Hi, If they are Tomacs, they should be HS33's. (The name was used a few times in deferent variations) Eye-searing orange/red colour, shorter / more square looking lever blade and a adjuster for the pad clearance. The HS22's have a very long lever blade with a rounded tip - look more like a...

Single speed bike on the cheap!

Hi all, I had originally joined the forum for my ParkPre rebuild, but as seems to be the case with everyone here, you see something and start building. I don't believe I've had a single speed bike since I was 12, so have never really understood the attraction before. I found the frame on...

    1997 ParkPre ALU Max

Hi All, I've decided to put my old ParkPre ALU Max right (back to period parts). Currently sporting shimano HONE, which was fun at the time, but I've obviously seen the light as the ParkPre's seem pretty rare. (image links fixed) So now I am after a bit of advice: While I have a few of...
