I’m looking to buy this De Rosa Columbus Neuron that the seller states is a Giro D’Italia.
So,I’m under the impression that the Giro started out as an El OS tubing model and then moved to a Neuron tubing from 1994 to 1997?? I’m confused as there is no Giro D’Italia decal on the top tube and the...
That’s great! I think I put in too much info into Google rather than just a simple “Malcolm Elliott Chevrolet” search!
I’ll keep searching for more photos, hopefully Malcolm might come back with a good shot?!
@velocipede Shame you sold the bike but glad the back injury didn’t turn out worse than first thought.
Did you get much information from Terry Dolan?? He didn’t really give me too much info, I don’t think there were many records kept of the builds. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ...
Managed to send Malcolm some photos of the bike which he remembers (although he said the colouring was different) and he was kind enough to give me his riding dimensions for Seat tube to Centre (23”) and his stem length (12.5cms) which both checked out on the frame.
Wow! This is the same colouring as my Terry Dolan built Reynolds 753, Mine is stamped without a serial number as the BB is stamped with “Malcolm Elliott”. I’ve sent an email to Terry Dolan and he said the colouring was a homage to Malcolm’s Team Seur Jersey. Unfortunately that was all the info...
Received a message from Malcolm Elliott saying that he gave this bike to Sydney bike builder/mechanic called Frank Conciecao who was charged with selling it for Malcolm. This was after Malcolm had ridden in the Bank Classic in NSW late 1993. Malcolm reckons that this is the bike he won the ‘93...
Thanks for documenting that build, great to sit down on a wet Sunday morning in Sydney, Australia and immerse myself in that!! Great job.
Hopefully looking at a possible Carlton (a little later than your Corinthian) that has Capella Lugs and hopefully a serial number to match......
At first...
These are the only photos I can get from the seller but the Nervex lugs and Professional Fork Crown say this could be a Holdsworth?? Not entirely sure of the model though??
Received an Email from Terry Dolan the other day confirming the build and remarking that the colouring was inspired by Malcolm’s Pro team colours at Suer during the early 90’s. He thought that Malcolm might have raced this in the UK during that time also.
Still no luck with getting in contact...
I’m pretty certain that it’s an original Cougar, but this is the exact reason why I’d like Terry and Malcolm to run there eye over the bike. For me, the history of these bikes is as important as restoring and riding them for me.
Re: Re:
Thanks! Yeah the forks will be the bulk of the issues, will clean them up and see if that’s enough or whether they’ll need to be rechromed. The components are all in pretty good condition but will be striped back and brought back to life. It’s amazing how well they respond to a little...
I recently acquired this early 90’s beauty that I’m “assuming” was built for Malcolm Elliott by Terry Dolan. I say “assuming” as dating wise I’m only going on the C-Record Groupset with the last Gen Delta’s and 1st Generation Ergo brifters.
I’d really like to get in contact with both Terry to...
