Cheers! have tried to work out Trek's frame number system but seems clueless to me :?

Can anyone help identify the year of this Trek 4500 frame please, the bike has undergone a few changes over the years by the looks of things but wanted to know the actual age of the frame if possible:

I'm after both a front and rear black ribbed brake cable set for a 1970's Carlton. Any help much appreciated.
