i had an 89 traverse limited edition in black. my first proper mountain bike. has a lot to answer for.
bought the frame from heffs and built it up with bits from my old raleigh and a few odd parts like an odyssey prosteer stem with brake boosting roller cam thingy. used to ride it to college...
from my experience he's safe from the crackheads. They nick anything full sus but leave the pimp hardtails well alone. I had a fisher cake and a cannondale jekyll stolen before i went back to riding a ti hardtail. it never gets a second look.
i think i cleaned mine once... i used to clean once a week. sunday morning was the ride, then sunday afternoon was a complete stripdown and rebuild.

I have some old hope hubs sold as working that are definitely not complete, and a hadley hub also sold as working with seized bearings.
On the plus side i have got some great deals like a ti frame for £200...
didn't nissan make up the word modtro to describe the micra?
I have a mix of old and new to make my bike work the way i want it to.
the oldest part has to be the xt thumbies running 8 speed and the newest is probably the 2007 xt rear mech.
i'd love to keep it purely retro, but things wear...
