Smooth riding Harry Quinn... what makes it ride like this?

So a while ago I decided that my bike built around a to-big Raleigh SPD 531c frame was too big... So I sold that and picked up a late 70's Harry Quinn - in my size in 531 - it had belonged to an old 90 year old and he had ridden it every day - it was in great condition, 6 speed cassette and...

Campagnolo parts for rear derailleur.... help needed!

Hello - another "help me!" thread I picked up a new/old bike on eBay - the fella was selling as he said it needed a bit of work on it - fixed the most obvious things and then found that the long cage rear mech doesn't really have any spring left! :( So it's a veloce 9 speed long cage rear...

Replacement Campag Chain rings (and chainset advice)

Re: Re: Mike that's so helpful! You don't know how reassuring just having someone say "I use these TA vent chainrings" is - looking at the bizarre mix of TA stuff you see online... Was fixed on using my old chainrings and having 52/39/30 - essentially the same setup as my old bike but with...

Replacement Campag Chain rings (and chainset advice)

39 tooth - I think I remembered it wrong! Anyway - I strongly believe that any internet forum is better with photos - and cos I'm relying on you for advice... here we go... The triple - the middle chain ring is almost all worn away at places the double so I could stick the 39 tooth on...

Replacement Campag Chain rings (and chainset advice)

Cheers for the offer - I'll check but think I've got a 52 from my old bike that will work - thinking I can probably use the chain rings from the old bike and run 52-38-30 ? I need to look at the condition of the 30 and 50 on there currently the 40 is shot. On them they are labeled "50-40" and...

Re: Re: what size cassette are you running? Going from my photo to yours... that record chain rings are things of beauty

Replacement Campag Chain rings (and chainset advice)

Interestingly the triple with the smaller cassette gives both a higher and a lower gear than the double with the compact cassette.

Replacement Campag Chain rings (and chainset advice)

Any clue where's best to pick up new chain rings for campag veloce 9 speed triple chainset? I imagine it's from the early 90's. Now the advice question.... Picked up a new bike today - was sold as a frame with the rest of the bits being extra as it needs a bit of work. Luckily I can fix it...

Awwww s*** Harry Quinn going wrong... then being rescued...

So a wee update on this.... I decided that sticking the bike up for sale and picking something else up would be the most cost effective/best route.... not suck it up for sale yet... work up today, the weather's nice and I just wanted to get out.... So I ran to the garage and started bolting...
