Re: You’re right...not a ton of yellow Colnagos out there. Funny, though, my Colnago Crystal is a similar yellow! And the bikes that Luca raced were both (all?) bright yellow.

Still looking for some history on this bike... In the meantime, I've put a few miles on it...it's a lovely riding bike! One of my favorite!

Thanks...really thought I was onto something with the referral to Luca's bike. I'm at another dead-end...maybe I'll check the tubing for build notes stuck inside. :)

It is not Luca's bike from the '96 Cyclocross worlds in Munich. That bike was lugless, with, surprisingly, a traditional front fork (not unicrown). It also had braze-ons for front derailleur cable. Overall, the construction is quite similar to the Colnago MTB that he raced in Atlanta in 1996...

Thanks! He's clearly riding a Colnago badged cyclocross bike, and it's the right era and color. The original videos are so grainy, it's tough to tell much from the footage! I just sent him a note on FB with a picture of the bike...

Yes, the yellow is a bit loud. Not my favorite color, but that's okay! Also a bit scraped up, but I'm going to keep it original.

Well...they probably do get a lot of inquiries by email. That having been said, I just realized that I can probably figure out Ernesto's email address from the email I did receive from the factory. :) So I sent him an email wishing him happy birthday (he recently turned 84) and inquiring about...

    That's a beautiful color scheme!

Spinergy's scared me too. I saw some pics of broken Spinergys and I bailed. One spoke goes and the wheel collapses.

    Campagnolo 8 Speed...

Yes, the Spiral Conic is a nice bike. Not original paint. Will look better with a straight chrome Precisa fork. :)

All work in progress. :) I just posted a couple of pics here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=276342&start=30 Also, see the thread "Colnago Master CX". I do have photos of all my bikes in one place, but I'm reluctant to post them online...the wife might see them! :)

Attached is a picture of my Spiral Conic in its first iteration, with Record 9 and Spinergys. It's now wearing Record 10 and silver Eurus wheels. It's an occasional bike for me, so it doesn't *have* to have the latest/greatest. :) Here's my everyday bike. :)

    Campagnolo 8 Speed...

Not meaning to resurrect an old thread, but this is great information. I have a 1989 Colnago Spiral Conic currently set up with Record 10 components, am occasionally tempted to backdate it with period correct C Record components...but then I reread this thread. :)

A shame about the paint on the Master Olympic. I had a feeling that either the paint style or condition was the influencing factor for you. My first Colnago was a 1989 Spiral Conic. Pearl with pink pattern. Yecch. Unrideable. :) I had it painted a nice deep blue and it still holds a prominent...
