Yes I believe they have been referred to like that, I think their true function is probably just to scrub of speed, not fully brake. Ray

Yes it does , ingenious design. Out of pure interest, I have read that the secondary levers are not popular, I do use them but do waggle a bit. Can they be restored, they don’t really appear to come apart easily. Thank you Ray

Actually Martin, came to that broad conclusion about the gearing, a bit weird but not catastrophic.. The chain could be an issue on the rear gear set, I’ll check it out🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks for your patience..and info I’m sure it will still be there when I’ve understood the implications. Ray
