I put a Campy Athena alloy crank with an alloy Potenza group on my new Arabesque build and it looks great. Go with the medium rear hanger and you can go up on the gearing for the hills.

Sorry to hear about the bad paint on the frame. You must be pretty frustrated. I can't imagine a flaw that big would go unnoticed. I hope it wasn't dropped.

I understand the frustration. I ordered mine last November and got it in February. They are hand made and not a mass production item. You will be the only one in the neighborhood that will have one, lol.

I like your concept build on your Arabesque. I kept mine a little more traditional without too much carbon, albeit mine did have carbon hubs. I'm kind of liking the rhino seat. It will be interesting when you put it all together. How long did they quote you...

What till you see the frame in person. It is simply stunning and only a few hundred grams heavier than carbon. When you pick it up, it is VERY light. The little I have ridden it so far is proving to be a good decision. I don't see this bike being out of date anytime...

It is a Leh seat with a Fizik base. They make some really cool custom seats. I recommend them for that future custom dream bike when you want something special.

If you want to go new. The new Campy Potenza offers an 11-32 cassette. I just had mine installed on a new Colnago. That 32 tooth is a mountain goat. I also suffer from the age/hill ratio and it is a nice backup on those days you don't feel as spunky as you were thirty years ago...

There is no question the 80th would look great. If I had unlimited resources, it would be a no brainer. But to quote Dirty Harry, "a man has to know his limitations", lol.
