    3D printing?

Send me a PM. I am an engineer and design a lot of printed parts. We also have various CNC machines for metals and plastics. I am friendly with the machine operators so can probably sneak them through if you are not in a rush for them (probably February to be honest). Even if you just need...

    Wanted: Pub Bike, 24"-25", £100ish

Oh yep they both sound promising - do you mind PM'ing some photos? Also what are the tyre/mudguard clearances like?

    Wanted: Pub Bike, 24"-25", £100ish

Hello, I am after a steel pub/town/shopping bike - either a sensible road bike (i.e. with 32c+ tyres and mudguards) or a large gents town bike (no SA hubs or rod brakes though please!). It will in all likelihood perennially live in the garage, and it's going to get knocked around in the stands...

my 4 months in New Zealand

Re: NZ is an amazing place, I just got back from 3 years working in Dunedin. It's a small place and funnily enough, having done a fair bit of graphic design in the bike business, I recognise a few of those characters. Next time you should go to the South Island, it makes the North Island look...

Pub bike, large, posted or Colchester/B'mouth

Re: Hi, thank you - my MTBs are usually 19" (modern hardtails that is). What that compares to on an old MTB... I'm not sure. I'm 6ft if that helps :? PM me with some details anyway, sounds promising.

Pub bike, large, posted or Colchester/B'mouth

Next week I'm coming back to the UK after 4 years working in NZ. I need a cheap pub bike pretty much pronto. I've got a pretty big list of demands as you can see  rather than the usual ebay offerings has anyone on here got something? Fat tyres and mudguards are good, singlespeed...

I got given this upright beauty today?!

Re: I read 'sitting under the house' and knew you must be from NZ. Good find eh.

Recommend me a really good waterproof jacket

Re: I am entirely unconvinced by any claims of breathability and waterproofness. That's after spending 250 quid on a top-end hiking/climbing jacket too. After the goretex started flaking off I sold it and bought a 20 quid Mac-in-a-Sac which was, a couple of features aside, literally just as good.

    Specialized Hardrock Ultra Antipodean Adventurer

Had a productive day today - handy having a friend who owns a bike shop. Cleaned and polished the frame up and fitted everything bar the seatpost and tyres, all of which are on their way. I also picked up a WTB saddle for nothing, which was nice. The cabling is for cantis rather than Vs, so...

    1988 Muddy Fox Courier 'B52'

Re: Nice find! Neither canti nor V-brakes can be fitted to U-brake posts - with a U-brake, the posts are above the rim; with canti/V, the posts are below.

    Specialized Hardrock Ultra Antipodean Adventurer

Re: Specialized Hardrock Ultra Antipodean Adventurer- what year? So the frame's 'Offroad CRMO SFS Tubing'; the fork says 'DD (I presume this stands for 'Direct Drive' which is also stickered on the frame) Double-Butted CRMO'. Also it's an Ultra! What does that mean then?

    Specialized Hardrock Ultra Antipodean Adventurer

Re: Hmm, googling that reveals some very similar (or perhaps identical) frames but with hi-ten forks - this one has an original Specialized sticker saying it's got a cromo fork... perhaps it's a model up, or possibly a non-original fork. Anyway, here's a motley collection of scrounged parts -...

    Specialized Hardrock Ultra Antipodean Adventurer

So I suppose this is how it started - a 100-mile overnighter along the Clutha River in New Zealand. I already have an Inbred 29er for bikepacking/XC duties but my partner had to borrow that rather lovely and otherwise barely-used Yeti ARC she's riding in the picture, so I've decided to build up...

    Haro Impulse Comp 1990

Re: Heh, the decals I have drawn up aren't quite the same as the originals (I took some inspiration from earlier Haro BMX decals, and a bit of artistic licence) but I will let you know. Also you'll have to factor in postage from New Zealand...

    Haro Impulse Comp 1990

Re: Great stuff. I was just thinking about my own Haro Impulse Comp which has sat in bits for six months after I got the frame painted. Unfortunately my LH shifter is knackered with a badly worn pawl, and I donated the RH one to someone who needed it for their commuter! I'm sure I'll be able...
