    BIN prices on Ebay

W....t... Whoever rides the one made of clapboard deserves the sharp splinter of wood through the ball sack they have coming to them.

New fork for '96 Kona Kilauea (SID SL or Z2 BAM?)

Right you are cce... I think it is indeed 80mm. Funny that it somehow looks longer. I guess ~80mm is right for the geometry, anyway. Thanks, guys. As you say, I probably won't go wrong with either.

New fork for '96 Kona Kilauea (SID SL or Z2 BAM?)

Requesting advice from the retro gurus! Got an 18" 1996 Kona Kilauea, and I’m thinking of giving it some front suspension. No beef with P2s, but I reluctantly admit that they’re slowing me down on the downhill. So it’s between the light grey Rock Shox SID SL (circa 2002) and red Marzocchi...

    Early Norcos?

Re: Early Norcos Pic of my wife's bike attached. Believe it is a 1995 Norco Nitro. Pretty killer bike. Love the ride characteristics of the old steel hardtails. Geometry and durability of this one seem top-notch. (And yes, at the risk of being flogged on a retro forum, I think it handles...

Need help IDing Mystery GT Avalanche - SOLVED!

Thanks! I've updated the thread title to indicate that the mystery has been solved, but comments are still very welcome. The original plan was to pillage it for parts for my '94 Kilauea project, but it's just too darn fun to ride and seems like a shame to break up the mostly original components.

Need help IDing Mystery GT Avalanche - SOLVED!

Re: Need help IDing Mystery GT Avalanche - blue "all terra" Wow! That has to be record timing. I think you've got it spot-on. Thanks, MADJEZ! Wish I had the matching forks as well. They guy who sold it to me said he thinks he left them at his mother's house

Need help IDing Mystery GT Avalanche - SOLVED!

Hi folks, Apologies if this is wrong place to post, but I need some help identifying a bike. Hopefully the retro gurus and GT affectionados can weigh in! Does anybody know what year/model this bike is? Far as I can tell, it's a GT Avalanche, but I can't find ANY similar images on Google...

First Retro - '94 Kona Kilauea

Awesome find! It was in darn good condition compared to a lot of them these days. I picked one up a few weeks ago that had apparently been found in a dumpster. Sadly, it had been relieved of most original parts, including everything titanium. Going to take a while to get all that back :(...

    1993 Kona Kilauea Restoration

Awesome photo! Can't wait to watch this restoration in progress. Sounds like the bike is already spec'd out, though I've heard a Fox F80 or Rock Shox SID SL look pretty sweet on that bike if money is no object ;) Interesting call on the riser bars, too. Thinking of sticking with that, or...

    1993 Kona Kilauea

Sorry - realize this is an old post, but wondering why you did away with the XTR? Just got a '94 Kilauea and considering what to put on it.

    Baby's come home!!!!! - 1994 Kona Kilauea

Re: Baby's come home!!!!! (1994 Kona Kilauea) UPDATES It's been said before above, but AMAZING story and build, Rob. I finally got my very own '94 Kilauea just last week (after lots of searching for a decent deal) and can't wait to get to work. Looks like the reavers got to her first, and...

    Brush Painting A Frame

Cool - thanks. Think I was looking at the oil-based, and it says "for metal surfaces only." Sorry, History Man... not really sure. I think Bone and I are in Canada, eh? :D

    Brush Painting A Frame

Just curious... I was looking at Tremclad rust paints today, and they say on the can that primer is not necessary for most applications. Why the three coats of primer? Was it really necessary? Anybody care to weigh in? I took a closer look at the bike I'll be working with and I'm lean toward...
