I've got a '98(?) white/red Axis and everything matches with the unknown frame including dropouts, except seatpost size (26.8) and location of second frame number. On the non-drive side I've got IE7K05336, the other number is on the drive side and it is hard to read because the paint...

I think that suitable paint stripper would be much easier to work with compared to acetone. I used acetone on the linked frame mainly because I already had that stuff and it seemed to work.
With acetone I was also able to clean some parts without damaging their stickers/decals:

And thank you for the SJS tip also, their postage to Finland for small parts is very reasonable. I just ordered an old axle from them and the delivery was fast.
About the bike, I think I'll fix the fork next. Lowers need paint and decals, and fork boots...
