Try contacting https://racereadysuspension.co.uk/contact/ for servicing and they also sell some parts on ebay. You might also want to scour this site https://community.vintagecannondale.com/threads/headshock-super-fatty-first-attempt-on-service.277/ to understand what it entails. You will need...
There are some of us and there a few posts on here about Moulton restorations. If you are looking to buy an F-frame to do up, ebay usually has a range of options at different degrees of knackerment. I'd recommend looking at the Moulton Club website https://www.moultonbuzz.com/ as it gives...
For this one I wanted to recreate the original colour. I had a recipe for it which someone had worked out using a spectrophotometer and I eventually found the UK supplier - Saris Coatings - who made up 500ml. Applied it with something called a Preval Portable spray gun which I hadn't used...
The forks on this were done with the Spray.Bike cans - worked alright. It was important for me to match the frame colour (which is original paint) and I was lucky that the Spray.Bike colour matched.
It looks lovely. I have a late MKM myself from new (1980ish) and it's been great. I'm assuming you've spotted the MKM website https://www.mkm-cycles.co.uk/ ?
Bank Holiday weekend in the Science Museum... at least you have bragging rights now.
Is that a Raleigh Chopper in the penultimate position? Having had a vague memory of having been there as well I googled it and came up with this 'Science Museum (collection) page about 'iconic objects of...
Hi, I might be interested in the forks. Could you take a few more pics please (the frame looks as if it has some corrosion) and do you know what year it is from roughly?
“.. bike with no mounts…” - people may have a bike with no mounts but are expanding their use of it so all well and good. I recall Blackburn racks being fitted with p-clips etc to 531 bikes without enough mounts. Personally I would have mounts all over just in case and Tailfin do a version for...
While scanning some long distance bikepacking events info I noticed that some people were using Tailfin rear racks - https://www.tailfin.cc/discipline/gravel/?v=79cba1185463 As a rack lover (and not being a lover of bags under the saddle) I'd go for these myself if I did enough mileage nowadays.
@rmwesley That's great, thank you, I will follow up on that and Aldershot is not far from me. My neighbour has also recommended someone - I'll post back when I have more to say.
It is looking really good. I'll be following a similar path with an 'attic find' I recently got off eBay. Could I ask your advice on powder coaters and what sort of cost it is?
If you haven’t found it already, and you need any more Cannondale specific advice, the forum at the Vintage Cannondale forum are also very helpful and knowledgable. Silk Road is going to be a minority sport though as most Headhoks were for mountain bikes.
Interested to learn that Silk Roads...
I happen to have a 2002 Jekyll frame with a crack in it hanging in the garage. It has the original headtube inserts in it. Are they what you need? Not sure about removing them as I don't have the tool for that but PM me if you think it might be do-able.
You don't happen to have the spring...
Thanks v much. For this discussion, the crucial bit for me is that it has eyelets for mudguard and racks (rear & low rider) to attach bags securely and distributed evenly, and low at the front. To continue the Mercian theme @bagpuss , here is a picture of my wife’s well-worn Mercian...
