Re:
Sorry, Merlin1952. My VX stuff is spoken for. I've pm'd the lucky recipient, but the message is stuck in my Outbox. Not sure if it stays there until it is read. Anyway, good luck with trying to get sorted.
Oops, missed your reply, shawnb. That's very kind of you to offer to send me some dye, thanks. I wouldn't want to put you out so I'll ask Mrs Keyboardmonkey if she would like to get me some for my birthday. Just got round to buying the right bar ribbon tape (I had the wrong type) so my Road...
Lovely bike. I wish my Raleigh Road Ace had come with the matching seat post - mine's a fluted version. Great idea to dye the saddle - how is that working for you? Would you recommend the suede dye brand? I might consider brightening up my own Tornado saddle. Cheers - KM...
I see that the route has changed from the proposed version that's still shown on Visit Hull & East Yorkshire's web site. I rode much of the then proposed Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route in April before the signs went up (with some minor deviations forced by skinny tyres and not being able to see in...
Does anyone know where I could get hold of a right-hand Dura Ace AX bar end cap? It's all that is missing (well, apart from the bar tape) from my Raleigh Road Ace:

Thanks if you can help.
Replacement rims and tyres, but with the exception of 24T rear sprocket (and I've still got the one I replaced), all original kit down to the Sturmey Archer toe clip straps.
I've posted this link elsewhere on this forum, but here it is anyway...
Cheers, DA-EVO. Still haven't ridden the Road Ace since my last post. I had the idea of riding it whilst wearing my 80s Raleigh and Reynolds 531 cycling clobber. But the plan to fit in to those clothes again is still, ahem, ongoing...
I've already put some photographs of my Raleigh Road Ace elsewhere on a cycling blog so, if it's not bad form to link to another web site, perhaps you'd like to have a look at my old bike:

I think it's the same as on my 1986 Raleigh Road Ace - I'll have a look tomorrow. It's one of the few parts on my bike that isn't Shimano 600. I saw what was advertised on eBay as a 600 seat post, but I wasn't altogether convinced.
My bike is a 21 1/2" frame - a bit too big for me, but...
I've never seen this model before. It's absolutely gorgeous. Love that bar bag, too!
I'm hoping to renovate my 80s touring bike during the summer. After seeing your Raleigh I think I'll go for a black finish to the paintwork. Thanks for sharing the photographs of your lovely bike.
I have an '85(?) Coventry Eagle Touristique. It's rusty and a project for the summer. I made some cosmetic changes to it in the early 90s (the white handlebar tape and cable housings were replaced with red ones to match the trim on my Carradice pannier and bar bag).
I also changed my...
