Thanks for the thought. Yes I did try a shorter stem and riser bar - rode for just under an hour and felt like I was trying to tame a wild beast! I quite like a twitchy ride but this was a bit too much.

This beautiful steed was taken on just one ride from new by the original owner and then, after a few components were removed for use on other bikes, it was stored in his loft for more than a decade (which should really be a criminal offence, of course) until I snapped it up around a month ago...
Looking for the blue/grey colour only please...not the bright blue.
