The last time I rode my 1997 Orange X1 was at The Malverns Classic last year in the Retro XC event, sadly I’m unable to go this year due to work but it hasn’t stop me from dusting down the X1 giving it a quick service and then taking it out on sun drenched trails for a nice warm 10’miler today...

Hi, it’s really nice, the way the rear is set up you don’t get the pogo effect so it behaves like a hardtail but with rear suspension if that makes sense? I rode it just over 16’miles on trails and it felt really planted, coped well with the rock gardens and technical bits at our trail centre.

According to Orange only 500 across production run, sadly the gentleman’s name (Andy Mcluir) who’s on the plaque on each passed away, he was on holiday some years later in Asia and tragically killed in a tsunami. Made it more the reason to do a good job and save it too.
