could try a modified dx bmx hub with a longer axle and spacers- these are 112mm spacing out of the box. getting quite expensive to find now though- just got some from the US via ebay and they worked out about £65 for a pair.
Yeah was thinking that may be the best way, just wanted to see if anyone had made up anything themselves and what would be best material as well- may experiment with some different tubing and see what happens. If I come up with a good idea will let people know for future flextail refurbishment...

Cant really see on the pictures- how is the cro-mo rear triangle attached to the alu front end?
I take it the seat stays are joined with some kind of bolt just below the seat clamp area but how are the chain stays attached?

If you are not bothered about the colour in the past I have popped down to my local car sprayers and seen if they would do my frame same time as they are spraying a car- saves you any of their set up costs and they may do it as quick cash in hand as well. Just make sure you properly prep it...
