Hi there, I haven’t posted on here in a while but have a question that I’m hoping the retrobike hive mind can help with.
I’ve got some wheels I bought from someone on here a few years ago and the rear freehub has seen better days / it’s got side to side play in the end of it.
Wheels are Mavic...
Re:
It’s an IS mount I believe - I think the year before was the one with the odd spacing. I’ve had Sram guides and Shimano Deore m535 calipers mounted up to it with a normal IS to post mount bracket.
Edit - a bit of googling suggests it’s the version before mine that had formula spacing...
As above, I’ve got a pair of the classic Orange Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Bams to sell.
100mm travel
Adjustable preload
Adjustable rebound damping
Coil springs / oil bath damping
9mm QR dropouts
IS disc brake mount
V Brake bosses
Straight 1 1/8th steerer - 196mm long
I think they are 1998 model...
As above - I have a set of hs33's that don't have the brake booster with them. After a yellow one in an ideal world but would consider other colours. Don't want to spend too much though - I could have bought some modern disc brakes cheaper than the hs33's have set me back!
Re:
Got an Evo2 mount kit which I've now attached the rear HS33 to the bike with. Just missing the front brace (which I assume I still need despite the evoke arch) - want to try and get a retro yellow one so it matches the yellow arch I have on the other HS33 (which is attached with Evo 1...
Re:
Went to the brake stuff.de site - they specifically list m6 brake bosses for 1997 to 2000 bombers with the cnc arch. Picture looks very similar on their site to the forks I've got. Ran an m6 tap through the non snapped off boss side and it screwed in OK and back out. So ordered those...
Re:
I've got the next bombers on from the twin mount ones. Still the same colour and broad look to them, but I think they have a single is mount (I had another pair of these back in the early 2000's which I ran a hope mono on) on one leg. These have much lower profile blue aluminium adjusters...
I'll have a try and see what fits then. The snapped off boss doesn't look like a very big diameter.
I thought the twin brake boss'd orange bomber with the red adjusters on the top were the ones that had a few mm difference in tye disc brakes mounts compared to IS?
Given I'm planning to run...
Re:
Hi there, what sort of use are these rims for - are they quite lightweight XC or can they stand up to a bit of abuse - ie jumping / trials sort of stuff?
Hi there, I'm building up a sort of retro bike - but blended with some newer bits too to have some fun on when not using my full susser (which is in no way retro).
Got a small aluminium hardtail frame with no identifying marks on it to work out what make it is. Could just be a generic cheapo...
