Re: Well.. not sure if anyones still here but...im finished! at the moment the final clear coat is drying, i will take pictures soon but yeah, done. i will begin the rebuild in a week or so to give the paint time to cure completely

I am currently building a single speed and need some wheels. Not so keen on building my own so i've been looking at completes. The problem being that im on a low budget ,as most are :), so i'm looking to spend as little as possible while still getting a decent wheel. so, any suggestions? Are...

ok, wet sponge it is. so far it seems to be going well which is nice. i have done two coats of colour on the fork and a base coat on the frame. The finish seems very good. a tiny bit orange peely but not too bad. so far so good :)

:) actually i realise i do have a question, having primed the parts and sanded them down a tad to flatten everything, they now have a decent amount of paint dust and stuff on top of the primer, i imagine this will be detrimental to the final finish, can i just clean it with meths or something...

i ended up going for the spray.bike stuff. i sprayed the fork yesterday and it seems to have come out well, i'll give it another coat and i think it will be done. ill start the frame next weekend i imagine :)

well, the paint arrived today, and i primed the fork. All seems to be going well so far. the surface finish seems very good, so tomorrow i will prime the rest of the frame and maybe do the basecoat of colour on sunday. depending on how much time i have :)

ok, i havent bought primer yet. i reckon ill get it sometime this week. either online or from an art supplies shop near me.

ok, thanks for the info, i will start painting soon. i just have one other question. to what degree can i get away with oxidation and rusting on the surface of the frame in regards to painting? Having removed all the paint now i can see that there are some spots where the frame has begun to...

ok, that sounds good, is there a particular lacquer brand/type i should be using?

i have done a bit of painting, and its turned out decently but not exactly on the same scale. Ill give it a go with the spray.bike stuff and see how it goes. with a bit of luck it will hold up ok. i guess ill put it up on here when im done :) thanks for the help! -max
