    More fool me...

lol several peeps seem to have missed the point. Alright, yes it was Halfords. To those that stick up for them due to their lack of knowledge of older parts, fair play. My point was the kid suggesting I buy a whole derailleur for £30+ just so I could use the jocky wheels from it on my old one...

    More fool me...

So I was needing new jocky wheels for the Deore DX rear derailleur on my Clockwork Orange. Sitting in my office yesterday lunchtime, I suddenly felt the need to go and see if I could get some. Now not too far from where I work is a branch of a well known national car accessories shop that...

Is there a market for Retro Parts?

Looking at the Photos, I think my existing rear Derailleur is in better condition. Thanks for going to the effort of posting the photo's though.

Your best time on a bike

A perfect day in the Brecon Beacons with a fast descent off Pen Y Fan that ended with cracked ribs! It hurt but it was THE most spectacular pile in. To this day not sure whether the cracked ribs were from coming off the bike or my mate running over to check I was OK, finding me pissing myself...

It's all a question of perception really. If Mrs Gorbs was to see me going out and buying another new bike, I would get the hard stare treatment. If she percieves that I'm doing up something I already have, she'll see that as 'making do'. That's the theory anyway...

At the moment I'm forty and fat and working desperatly to correct the later  As such most of my riding so far (last couple of months) has been on the lanes/back roads out toward High Ercall and Roddington. I'm out usually 3 nights a week and it's really starting to work, fitness &...

Thanks Anthony. That's some good gen about the forks, just the advice I was looking for. I think that the best way for me to proceed is with a good strip down/clean/ examination...then I'll do the same to the bike (boom boom) I'll get it running nicely in original spec first, then after...

Thanks all Your comments are most welcome. I suspect budget may be a slight issue. I'm still trying to justify to my wife why I've had to go out and buy a set of Lumicycle lights  As for Anthony's advice regarding keeping the original forks or not, I guess this is one of my biggest...

Hi All First time here so nice to meet you all. OK Here's the deal. Waaaaaaay back in '92 I used to go tearing around on a Clockwork Orange Deore DX. I stopped riding seriously in '95 and apart from the occasional blast, it has sat in my Garage. I started riding again earlier this year...
