I no longer have the bike (big mistake 😢) but around ten years ago I picked up this 94 708 Randonneur for around £40 in a bit of a state as shown:
After a lot of work I got it looking like this and enjoyed riding it but had a couple I rode more. I sold it to a New Zealander who wanted a good...
Having a clear out of projects that will not be completed so a couple of things to go for free.
The Orbit America 56cm 531 Competion frame from around 1990 is a bit too big for me. There is a layer of very fine rust spots on the pearlescent white paint surface of the frame due to it being...
Been hanging around for years and will never be used so does anybody want them? They were last on a bike about 15 years ago and were OK then, but not tested since. 7 speed, plus the extra click.
Postage cost only which shouldn't be more than a few quid.
I have a red 80s Treviso and a red 90s Angliru, both of which seem the same shade of red, and need some touch up paint for the scratches and nicks. Does anyone know if there is a good match in Humbrol/Revell model paints. Humbrol 19 or possibly Humbrol 220 look OK.

The above thread shows a set of these brakes on an old Marin I had some years ago.
Fair enough. Will do.
It's a great site.
One problem is that I will not risk going on it while it still has this security warning, so will have to wait before donating a few quid.
Have just tried looking on Velobase for some stuff on Campagnolo skewers and had a security warning not to use it.
Seems its security certificate has expired and that makes it potentially a security risk for anyone who logs on.
It will be a huge loss if this is not resolved as it is a valuable...
Magnification of the last picture will show probably the worst pitting on the frame and it is very small spots of rust on the frame. I may try a rust remover gel as you suggest. I have never heard of the gel you recommend, but is it different to the Kurust gel rust remover?
I have been given this Orbit f&f plus wheels that are in vgc other than the surface rust shown in the first two pictures. I have spent a couple of hours cleaning it with fine wire wool and solvol autosol and it got a lot of the rust off and looks much better but has left a very fine pitting and...
I don't think it happens so much these days, but it was not unusual to see good bikes in the metals skip at our local dump 12 years ago. It was around 18/20 years old at the time and hadn't been used for a long time with one of the front fork dropouts snapped.
