i thought you said it was 126 mm spacing ? I read my tape measure wrong. Mavic Open Pro rims with 130mm Shimano 105 Hubs fit perfect.

Yes, the shifters are 10 speed. I was lucky the frame had 130 mm spacing. I was able to upgrade with modern equipment and new wheels! I found the shifter boss covers from a forum member on this thread.

I finally finished the rebuild of a 979 Vitus. I went for a two hour ride and nothing fell off, so we did something right. I want to thank all the members and forums for the direction and suggestions.

I received my Vitus fork. The fork has threads. Do I have to use a threaded headset or can I use a threadless headset? Thanks, Doug

It was black anodized, but I couldn't afford the finish so I had a friend paint it candy purple paint. I can't find a Vitus fork, so I am probably going to add a black carbon fiber fork. Doug

Can I upgrade my vitus with shimano ultegra ergo shifters and 7 speed? Also are there adapters available to convert the Downtube shifter bosses? This is my first ever build. I know the spacing is 126 mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Doug
